Spreading Social Justice: Puppy Mills

Puppy mills are places where puppies are inhumanely bred and sold to people who don’t know about their new puppy’s background.

All About Puppy Mills

Puppy mill puppies are sold everywhere. They can be found at many common pet stores and can also be sold online. In these stores, their records are often falsified. The puppies are often sold at as young as 8 weeks. They are most certainly not well taken care of; diseases can be passed around. these diseases are:

  • epilepsy
  • heart disease
  • kidney disease
  • deafness
  • eye problems
  • respiratory disorders

They arrive at stores and homes with cough, infections, parasites, pneumonia, and chronic diarrhea. They are treated with bad care and dirty food and water. Their social life is not good. To make things worse, these terrible places are all over the U.S. There are estimated 2,000 to 10,000 puppy mills.

The Solution

  1. Stop buying from pet stores that sell dogs from puppy mills
  2. Join the fight to enforce the outlaw of puppy mills
  3.  If you are looking for a puppy or dog, adopt a puppy mill survivor.
  4. Make sure that the owner of the dog you are buying is responsible
